dualwrapped3How the Formostar Infrared Body Wrap Works
The core temperature of our body is 37 degrees Celsius and constantly reduces toward the outside. Consequently, the outer areas of the body tend to be around 10 degrees Celsius colder and this is where excess fat is typically deposited.

In order to achieve body toning, it is necessary to undergo sustained cardiovascular exercise for a minimum of 30 minutes, 3 to 4 times per week. During exercise, the body temperature rises and sweat is generated as the body attempts to cool itself. At the same time, the heart works harder pumping blood at a greater rate to boost circulation. Heart rate, cardiac output and metabolic rate increase, while diastolic blood pressure drops, improving overall cardiovascular fitness and burning off fat deposits.

Guyton’s Textbook of Medical Physiology reports that one gram of sweat requires 0.586 kcal. The JAMA citation above goes on to state that ” A moderately conditioned person can easily sweat of 500 grams in a traditional sauna, consuming nearly 300 kcal-the equivalent of running two to three miles. A heat conditioned person can easily sweat off 600 to 800 kcal with no adverse effects. While the weight of water lost can be regained by rehydration, the calories consumed will not be.”

The implications are that Far Infrared heat applied directly to the body via the silicon bandages will allow between 970-1460 kcal to be sweated off in a 50 minute session.

Easy To Use

One of the most appealing aspects of Formostar is that there is no need to remove clothing for an effective session. The silicone bandages can be applied directly to the skin however if a person prefers not to undress, light cotton clothing is recommended. Clients simply lie down on a comfortable massage table, have the silicone bandages wrapped around the areas to be treated and relax for 50 minutes. In some cases clients may wish to reduce the temperature to a particular area. It is also advisable for the client to have water available.

Easy To Operate

The most appealing aspect for the operator is how easy the Formostar is to operate and that it only requires 10 to 15 minutes time for each 50-minute session.

Connect the bandages to the control unit by matching up the colored plugs of the bandages with the sockets on the control unit. Turn the control unit on for the 10-minute pre-heat period to heat the bandages. The timer automatically starts at 60 minutes.

Fix the bandages to the client’s thighs, hips, abdomen and arms or calves via the color coded velcro belts. The customer is then covered with a light blanket or towel. Since the tissues over the often protruding hip bones are very thin and blood circulation must occur in an extremely small space, the hip bones must be covered with a small cotton or toweling cloth, otherwise overheating may occur at these locations. Some patients may also need padding on the coccyx.

When the bandages have been applied as described above, the heat of the individual controllers is adjusted from 100% to 80%. If during the heat 50 minute treatment, the customer finds the heat to be too strong or uncomfortable, adjusting the individual heat controllers can further reduce heat output.

The Formostar timer will turn the heat off automatically after 60 minutes. The client lies down for a couple of minutes while they are uncovered and the bandages are slowly loosened from the body. Immediately after the treatment, the bandages are cleaned with a mild disinfectant solution ready for the next session.
